The Paper Studio is a specialist printer creating and producing items specifically
for particular customer groups. We operate nationally; very few of our customers are local.
We also provide these customer groups with the more general printing such as business cards, letterheads and leaflets.
Our main customer base is florists, as you can see from this website. We have over 1000 current
florist customers throughout the UK and Ireland. We also create gift vouchers for Garden Centres and Hair
& Beauty Salons (www.salonprinters.co.uk) and order of service covers for Funeral Directors (www.funeralservicecovers.co.uk).
The company aims to provide high
quality products through superior design, printing and customer service. The fact that we have over 10
years of continuous growth when most other printers have been in decline is testament to our determination to get it right.
We have a small team of good people who have enabled us to achieve this success. We are looking
for a designer to help us continue to develop by asking our customers what they would like and developing designs
and products to meet those needs. As well as the more specific qualities outlined under each of the jobs
you need to fit in with the people already here. That means a positive, cheery outlook, a good sense of
humour and willingness to give and take banter, and a willingness to muck in and do whatever is necessary to get stuff done
when needed.
JOB DETAILS
The hours can have a degree of flexibility.
In principle they are Monday to Friday, part-time, 16 to 20 hours a week. It depends on the qualities and skills
of the successful applicant. For someone who can help contribute to the development of the business there would possibly
be more.
This job entails preparing artwork for our customers. You will need a good
eye for layout and design, and be a fast and accurate typesetter.
We use Corel Draw and experience with
this would be useful but is not essential. We would expect you to be able to pick up the programme quickly
if you have worked with other design software.
The bulk of the work will be for our florist customers,
setting their details and logo to overprint onto our cards, envelopes, labels and order pads. You will
see examples of all of these on this website.
You will be working under the direction of our chief designer.
There will be the opportunity to get involved in the development and design of new products but be clear that the majority
of your work will be day-to-day artwork
